On Christmas Day, the Swedes attend church early in the morning. Usually, the ride to church is made by horse-drawn sleighs. The ride is a race, and the winner is believed to have the best harvest in the coming year.

Christmas lasts until January 14- Knut's Day. This day is devoted to discard the Christmas tree, and devour all the edible decorations. The kids usually dress up as "Old Knut." They play practical jokes and chant as they fling the tree into the snow.
