Dear Government Official:
I am writing this letter to inform you about my views on the Utopian
Culture. The Utopian culture seems like a perfect society, until you see what you have to give up. This culture eliminates hate, war and poverty, while creating a peaceful place to live. All you have to do is give up all your rights! All people would have equal labor and pay. The people wouldn't be able to live their own life, as there are many rules to follow everyday.
Although the Utopian society creates a peaceful, orderly society, I would never give up my rights to live like this! I want to be able to do what I want, when I want, not when the government says its ok. There would be no individuality or freedoms. I want to have the decision to decide how much money I can or can't have; I don't need someone else to tell me how much I can make. Everyone in this society would be the same; they don't get to be themselves. We would all have strict rules to follow everyday. It would be like having a babysitter constantly telling you what to do, how you should do it, and when you should do it. There would be many unhappy people in a Utopian society. People wouldn't be allowed to go out and do something incredible to get recognized in a Utopian society. Instead, they would get up every morning and say, “What won’t I be able to do today?” People would rather go through hard times in life to be able to get to the good times, than to be told exactly what they are to do each day. Not knowing what will happen next is part of life, and even though it's not always good, everyone would rather keep life the way it is. There is always going to be bad things that happen, but life goes on. People want to live life knowing that they can change the future. Living in a Utopian culture would make everyday the same; there wouldn’t be that feeling of accomplishment when you accomplish something good.
We as Americans, have the right to many different things. We are allowed to say what we want, eat what we want, work where we want, and live where we want. People provide for themselves, and they make their own future. The only people that tell us what to do are our parents and elders. Please don’t change any of this. This is what makes
Sincerely,
Kelley Johnson
